Rawanduz Grondslagen uitgelegd

[112] Some Kurdish officials in Iraq have described this as evidence of the Iraqi government’s aim to return to a centralised political system and abandon the federal system it adopted in 2005.[113] In September 2023, the prime minister ofwel KRG, Masrour Barzani sent a letter to the president ofwel the United States, imploring him to intervene, and warning of a potential collapse ofwel Kurdistan Region and the “federal montuur” in Iraq.[114]

Turkey's government says the YPG and the PYD are extensions ofwel the PKK, share its goal ofwel secession through armed struggle, and are terrorist organisations that must be eliminated.

Kurds received harsh treatment at the hands of the Turkish authorities for generations. In feedback to uprisings in the 1920s and 1930s, many Kurds were resettled, Kurdish names and costumes were banned, the use of the Kurdish language was restricted, and een momentje the existence of a Kurdish ethnic identity was denied, with people designated "Mountain Turks".

The best route to take to Rawanduz kan zijn different when driving back to Erbil. At least, that’s the most convenient way. On the way back, you can drive through the canyon going down, which is much easier than driving up.

This policy accelerated in the 1980s as large numbers ofwel Kurds were forcibly relocated, particularly from areas along the Iranian border where Iraqi authorities suspected that Kurds were aiding Iranian forces during the Iran-Iraq War (1980–88). What followed was one ofwel the most brutal episodes in Kurdish history. In a series ofwel operations between March and August 1988, code-named Anfal (Arabic: “Spoils”), Iraqi forces sought to quell Kurdish resistance; the Iraqis used large quantities of chemical weapons on Kurdish civilians. Although technically it was not part ofwel Anfal, one of the largest chemical attacks during that period took place on March 16 in and around the village of Ḥalabjah, when Iraqi troops killed as many as 5,000 Kurds with mustard gas and nerve agents. Despite these attacks, Kurds again rebelled following Iraq’s defeat in the Persian Gulf War (1990–91) but were again brutally suppressed—sparking another mass copyright.

Een meeste Koerden bestaan religieus. Circa 90% kan zijn moslim en ook bestaan veel Koerden jezidi's. Removal of the population from along their borders with the Ottomans in Kurdistan and the Caucasus was ofwel strategic importance to the Safavids. Hundreds ofwel thousands of Kurds were moved to other regions in the Safavid empire, only to defend the borders there. Hundreds of thousands ofwel other ethnic groups living in the Safavid empire such as the Armenians, Assyrians, Georgians, Circassians, and Turkomans, were also removed from the border regions and resettled in the interior of Persia, but mainly for other reasons such as socio-economic, and bureaucratic ones. During several periods, as the borders moved progressively eastward, with the Ottomans pushing deeper into the Persian domains, entire Kurdish regions ofwel Anatolia were at one point or another exposed to horrific acts of despoliation and deportation.

During the Iran–Iraq War in the 1980s, the regime implemented anti-Kurdish policies and a de facto civil war broke out. Iraq was widely condemned by the international community, but was never seriously punished for oppressive measures such as the mass murder ofwel hundreds of thousands ofwel civilians, the wholesale destruction of thousands of villages and the deportation ofwel thousands of Kurds to southern and central Iraq.

If I had to choose a number one nature spot to visit in Iraqi Kurdistan, it would be this: Rawanduz.
